News! And.. Who Is Ant-Man?

There is less than a month left until Avengers: Age of Ultron comes to movie theaters!

The Daredevil series has finally come to Netflix! It takes place in the same universe as The Avengers and the other Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies.

Who Is the Ant-Man?
Ant-Man is one of the least well-known superheroes of Marvel. The wearer of the Ant-Man suit has the ability to shrink down in size, while retaining their normal strength. The Ant-Man is a mantle and has actually been passed down. So, I will start with the first Ant-Man, Hank Pym.

Hank Pym was a scientist experimenting with shrinking. He was finally able to succeed until he accidentally shrunk himself to the size of an Ant and got stuck.

Flash-forward a couple of weeks, Pym has restored to his regular size but decides he must again use his serum to save him and his fellow scientists from KGB agents attempting to learn of experimental government projects.

Hank fought many villains and became a founding member of the Avengers.

Hank later decided to retire from his heroic days and passed the mantle to Scott Lang.

Scott Lang resorted to burglary after not being able to support his family. He was able to steal Hank’s Ant-Man suit. Lang intended to return the Ant-Man costume to its owner and turn himself in, but Henry Pym offered to let him keep them, provided Lang put them to lawful use. Scott used the Ant-Man suit to help those in need and eventually became an Avenger.

Paul Rudd is scheduled to play Scott Lang in Ant-Man in theaters July 17th.

Happy New Year!..And Captain America!!!!!

Happy New Year Marvelites!I am going to be completely honest with you guys. The past months have been all fun and games. I've been posting about Marvel's news and it's movies. But that's not really what this blog is about. It is about me getting you acquainted with the character origins and current success of these characters. This blog's New Year's Resolution is to get back on track and for me to give you more information about these characters.

So Let Us Begin!

The first character I would like to start off with is Captain America.

Steve Rogers was a 90 pound weakling who was unable to serve in the military during WWII. After falsifying on his enlistment forms and numerous tries he was finally offered a chance. He was to participate in a program that would turn him into a super-soldier. Steve was given a serum and extensive training that would give him the strength to help him become Captain America! After donning a costume and a shield he would go on fighting in WWII.
As WWII was coming to an end Captain America got trapped in the ocean in a block of ice, following the attempted stopping of a getaway plane.

Captain America was found decades later by the Avengers in the ice as he joined their ranks and eventually became leader of the team. He would go on fighting many villains alongside the Avengers for years to come.

His story was tweaked a little bit in the movie Captain America: The First Avenger and Marvel's The Avengers, it still stays true to its roots.
Until next time. And like a wise man once said...EXCELSIOR!

How to keep Comic Books in Good Condition

I will be talking about Marvel comics more but if you are to start collecting comics you are going to need to know how to keep them in good condition so that they don`t deteriorate.
How to keep Comic Books in Good Condition:
1. Wash your hands with soap and water before handling your comic books
2. Keep all comics in a proper bag and board
  • Mylar sleeves are preferred to be used to contain comics
  • Acid Free boarding should be used as it doesn't cause extra wear and deterioration on the comic
3. Get your comics organized and put in a comic book box
4. Keep the boxes in a cool, dry, and dark location where humidity and temperature don't change
5. Check on them about every two months
6. Good, older books should be professionally graded by well-known respected companies

Beginnings of Marvel Comics

Hello Marvel Enthusiasts! My name is Sahil and this blog will be exploring the wonderful world of Marvel.
As many of you might know Marvel has created a huge impact on people with Marvel`s The Avengers becoming the third highest grossing movie of all time. But just how did Marvel start off?
Marvel comics started off as Timely Comics in 1939. This was the company to produce the first Marvel comic known as Marvel Comic #1. This book featured the first appearance of the superhero The Human Torch who was an android (not the one from the Fantastic Four).
The Sub- Mariner was also featured in his first appearance. These two heroes would be the only ones the public enjoyed and the others would fade in time.
Soon America would go to war in World War 2 and a new hero had to be created…Captain America! This was a form of propaganda that many would come to love. The era that followed came to be known as the golden age of comics.
However, as WWII ended comics popularity had started to fade and many publications were cancelled.
Then in 1961 in the wake of the space and atomic age, Stan Lee revolutionized the comic industry forever. Stan Lee created the superhero team known as The Fantastic Four which ushered in the silver age of comics. Many other publications had followed including Spider-Man, Iron-Man, and The Incredible Hulk.
Following the Silver Age came the Bronze Age and Modern era of comics but I won’t go into too much detail about that because, these are a bit less important.

In this blog I will be focusing on the character origins and current success of the many characters of the Marvel Universe.
